Workshop!

After a very (very) long hiatus, I'm back. Being crafty, like I do. So what have I been up to? Well I've been working on my workshop, for one. I am finally to this point:

Woo-hoo! It's actually easy to work out there now. I have all my tools in one place, and I know roughly where they are. I haven't had that...ever. It's awesome.

I also bought one of these:
Ain't she a beaut? I put it together (it comes fully assembled) and got to work on it. I bought it for one reason, really. Wands. I will do other things with it, certainly, but mostly it's about wands. So I made a few wacky, pitiful attempts at rounding off octagonal stock at first, then got to business on a 1" oak dowel I've had since high school. Sometimes there's a benefit to hoarding raw materials. This meant I could get started right away on this project, rather than having to go out and buy more stuff.

here's what I came up with. Not all done yet, but pretty close. It will get another coat of stain tonight and then some polyurethane to seal it up and keep it looking pretty. Probably plenty more lathing, too. I've got big plans!
